Research team

 

Przemysław Marciniak is Head of the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Silesia. His main research interests are Byzantine performative culture, Byzantine humour and the reception of Byzantium in post-Byzantine Europe.
 

Baukje van den Berg is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Classical Philology. Her main research interests are Byzantine (classical) scholarship and the reception of ancient literature in twelfth-century Byzantium.
 

Janek Kucharski is Assistant Professor at the Department of Classical Philology. He is a classist specializing in literature and culture of classical Athens who collaborates in some of the Center projects.
 

Katarzyna Warcaba is PhD student at the Department of Classical Philology. She is currently working on her PhD on Theodore Prodromos’ ‘Katomyomomachia’. She is also preparaing a commented translation of ‘Charidemos’, a Lucianic dialogue.
 

Andrzej Wilanowski is PhD student at the Department of Classical Philology. He is currently working on his PhD on the grammar attributed to Theodore Prodromos.
 

Tomasz Labuk is PhD student at the Department of Classical Philology and one of the investigators in the project 'An Intellectual History of Twelfth-Century Byzantium - Appropriation and Transformation of Ancient Literature'.
